Interdisciplinary Collaboration
It is a core challenge of RRI to consider the different dimensions of responsibility (social, ecological, ethical, economic, etc.) to be able to tackle the complex and global challenges of our time (e.g. climate change, health, food security, wealth distribution, war, migration, etc.). It is a core assumption of RRI that in order to increase capacities in addressing these issues we have to use and integrate perspectives and capacities of different scientific disciplines (and a broad set of societal actors).
The research platform therefore follows an interdisciplinary approach in studying the conditions that may facilitate – or prevent – RRI. Building on existing experiences in interdisciplinary research on ethical, social and legal aspects and implications of research (ELSA, ESLSI), the platform wants to contribute to the development of new and innovative relationships between research fields (new “knowledge relations”) for responsible forms of producing knowledge.
